Eddie Mayehoff
(1911 - 1992)

Although his film career was very brief, the roles he played were unforgettably excellent. Eddie Mayehoff was born July 7, 1911 in Baltimore, Maryland the son of a Ukrainian clothing manufacturer. He attended the Yale School of Music in the 1930s and earned a teaching certificate but he worked for a magazine called 'The Musician' before forming his own band which toured for six years. He moved from there on to radio where he was a comedy writer and in the 1940s he appeared on Broadway in musicals and drama productions. He was a natural for acting with his gravelly voice and rubbery face. He starred with Jerry Lewis in the film "That's My Boy" (1951) as 'Jarring Jack' Jackson which later evolved into a popular TV series (1954-55). His other films included: "The Stooge" (1953) as Leo Lyman; "Off Limits" (1953) as Karl Danzig; "Artists and Models" (1955) as Mr. Murdock; "How to Murder Your Wife" (1965) as Harold Lampson and "Luv" (1967) as D.A. Goodhart, his last film. He also starred on other TV series: "Doc Corkle" (1952) in the title role and "Hour Glass" (1946-47) as its emcee and host. He died on November 12, 1992 in Ventura, California of natural causes.
